Unfortunately, this is not the first time a shooting or stabbing has occurred at this establishment, and it's long overdue that we as a community demand change. MJ’s Sports Bar has been a fixture in Murfreesboro, providing a space for locals to unwind and enjoy leisure time, but the increasing frequency of violent incidents has turned what should be a sanctuary into a threat to public safety. Families are fearful, and the community is on edge each time another tragedy strikes, eroding the sense of security we should all enjoy. According to local law enforcement reports, there have been multiple violent incidents at this location in the past year. These continued acts of violence not only put patrons in danger but also jeopardize the safety of the surrounding neighborhood. This area has seen a drastic increase in crime rates, specifically connected to activity stemming from this bar, demanding immediate intervention. We urge the local authorities in Murfreesboro to take decisive action to mitigate this issue. We are calling for either the closure of MJ’s Sports Bar until substantial safety improvements are implemented, or the establishment of significantly heavier security measures to protect patrons and the neighboring community. Enhanced security can include hiring well-trained security personnel to patrol the premises, installing advanced surveillance systems both inside and outside the bar, enforcing strict entry checks, and reducing the serving hours to mitigate late-night disturbances. Additionally, collaboration with the local police for regular safety assessments could help in maintaining a secure environment. The safety of our community cannot be compromised.
