The Issue

Statement from the Parent's Association of Saint Eunan's College.
----------------------------
The Parents' Association Committee is deeply disappointed and concerned by the Department's decision not to approve funding for a new school building.  The school has served generations of families and it is distressing to see that today's students are expected to learn  in facilities that are widely acknowledged as not fit for purpose. Adequate school facilities is not a luxury but a basic requirement for our student's safety, education and wellbeing. The need for a new building is long overdue and well documented. Despite the best efforts of staff and management, the existing accommodation does not provide the standard of learning environment our students deserve.

This decision is disheartening for our school community, who have shown nothing but patience and goodwill throughout this process.

We urge our parents, guardians, grandparents, our wider school community — including alumni, alumni families and friends of St Eunan's College — to contact:

Local and national public representatives

Minister's Office -  Minister@education.gov.ie   or hildegarde.naughton@oireachtas.ie   01 8892335

Personal voices carry weight and are harder to ignore.  Consistent pressure is essential to ensure this decision is reviewed URGENTLY.

The Parents' Association stands united with the Board of Management and staff and will continue to champion for the facilities our students need and deserve.  Our community has waited long enough and further delay cannot be justified.
