Did you get to watch NBC Nightly News last Thursday? Or the TODAY show on Friday? ...Because the story behind this petition made national news.
My husband, Jim and I had the honor of being interviewed by Cynthia McFadden about Jim’s heat stroke, the company's response and this viral petition. I can’t tell you what it meant to us to tell our story – and the story of so many families like ours – to a massive national audience. I know UPS is listening.
A big investigative article about this story was also released digitally on NBCnews.com. This is several months in the making. The incredible reporters at NBC talked to dozens of UPS drivers across the country. They found record of 107 heat-related hospitalizations in the last four years. Experts quoted in the article indicated that the total number of UPS employees who suffered from heat illness is likely much, much higher. The report tells the story of some of those drivers, and their fear of retaliation if they speak out. Many of those drivers came forward because of this petition, and now dozens more are calling NBC with their own stories.
UPS made nearly 5 billion dollars in profit last year, and yet they can’t spare enough cash to keep employees out of the hospital. The way they have treated their dedicated employees is despicable, and it cannot stand!
With all eyes on UPS, NOW is the time to show them that we will not back down from this fight. If you take one action today, please let it be sharing this news story on social media:

All of this national news coverage happened because of this petition – because of your signatures. With enough public pressure, UPS won’t have a choice but to change their ways. And because of you, that’s looking more and more likely every day.
