Demand UK supermarkets end trade with Israel

Demand UK supermarkets end trade with Israel
The Issue
We demand that UK supermarkets and large retailers immediately cease trade with Israel.
In light of ongoing, live streamed war crimes, crimes against humanity and Genocide being committed by Israel; it is crucial that large UK supermarkets reevaluate their sourcing policies. Companies like Morrisons, Asda, Sainsbury's, Tesco, Aldi, Lidl, M&S and Costco have a significant influence on global trade patterns and can contribute to meaningful change by re-evaluating the way they source their goods, and therefore impacting the ethical implications of their supply chains.
The Co-op has already set a precedent by ending trade with businesses that source produce from Israel, and ceasing trade with Israel itself. We urge other major retailers to follow suit, especially in relation to products like Sabra hummus, Israeli-grown avocados, and Israeli dates which are all large exports from Israel. These items, linked to settlements that many international bodies deem illegal, are currently being stocked by these supermarkets, inadvertently supporting and normalising these contested trade practices. Continuing to conduct trade with Israel, makes all supermarkets and stores that sell the produce complicit in Israeli war crimes. Hundreds of thousands have been brutally slaughtered by the Israeli-state in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon and beyond since October 2023. It is disgraceful that Large Retailers and Supermarkets still continue to financially support death, destruction and illegal occupation.
This call to action is not new nor unfeasible. Many human rights organisations and trade justice advocates have outlined the ethical concerns tied to these products and the sustained impact of trade with Israel. By taking this stand, supermarkets can set a new standard for ethical sourcing and demonstrate a commitment to corporate social responsibility.
Switching to alternative sources or supporting local and ethically produced goods will be a step towards promoting global peace and justice. We believe that customers, when informed of the origins of products and their broader impacts, prefer to make morally responsibly choices. We hope large supermarkets follow through on our demand to cease trade with Israel.
Please sign this petition to demand UK supermarkets and large retailers lead by example in promoting fair and just trade practices worldwide, specifically ceasing trade with Israel.
When this petition closes, the demand will be printed and personally delivered to UK supermarkets and large retailers at their headquarters.
