Hold Trinity County Board of Supervisors/Sheriff's Dept and Cal-Fire Accountable.
The Issue
Trinity County, Trinity County Sheriff's Office and Cal-Fire need to be held accountable for the shooting of Nhia Yang Family Dog while executing a criminal search warrent on what should of been a COUNTY CODE ENFORCEMENT VIOLATION.
Instead it was a witch hunt for a ride a long reporter writing a story on Human Trafficking and Slave Labor conditions on Cannabis Farms.
Officer Nate Trujillo of the Trinity County Sheriffs Office swore to an Affidavit alleging Cannabis Cultivation without a County License. Included was statements from Officer Trujillo that logs would most likely be found of the who, what and where that in his experience is found at illegal grows but is also required by California to legally operate a Farm. Trinity County has made County Licensing an arduous process and this is a good example, Nhia Yang had held a County License that had expired and was waiting for County Inspection when a search warrant was served.
During the execution of the warrant a Cal-Fire law enforcement officer shot Nhia Yang's dog who was on a lead and no threat and after a statement of do not hurt the dog from another Officer. At the time of the shooting two Officer's had walked past the dog and were talking to Nhia Yang while another walked away from the group. There is a video of the shooting along with still showing that the officer came into the area with his gun drawn and already trained on the dog and taking an aggressive stance making the dog react like any dog who is protecting their owner would.
Cannabis for Conservation has been helping local Farmers with the process of changing over to annual licenses and Nhia Yang was a part of this program and which there was an understanding between Trinity County and Trinity County Sheriffs Dept which was not honored and has now lead to criminal charges being filed by the District Attorney when it is a code violation and the shooting of Nhia Yang's dog in front of him. This should of been a civil matter for code enforcement not Major Crimes. If Nhia Yang is found guilty of a felony he will not be able to work and live with his family. California law states you cannot have a felony record.
Law Enforcement has also violated environmental laws by digging a hole without following CEQA or ESA and buried the Cannabis along with trash that further jeopardize any EIS or CEQA to continue the County process and retention of their State License.
We are asking for a full investigation of all agencies involved and the removal of the Cal-Fire Officer that shot Nhia Yang's dog. We want is a full investigation into the Sherriff's Dept and the validity of Nate Trujillo's affidavit and moving forward require either the Sheriff or Undersheriff to confirm all information and an outside Court signing any warrant against Cannabis Farms.
It has been 9 years and Trinity County is still changing the goal post on farmers who have paid tens of thousands in fees and still can't get their License but have valid State licenses and are being treated like crimials. All because some in County Government don't want Legal Cannabis Growers and turn a blind eye to the Illegal growers.
Help get justice for these members of our Community who are trying to follow the rules. Help restore the trust in the legal system and for those that serve with honor. We have lost all trust in local LEO's and Cal-Fire.
