The issue

In 2023, Australia recorded 36,318 victims of sexual assault, resulting in an 11% increase in ONE YEAR  and representing the highest rate in the 31 year data series.

84% of these victims were women and girls. Most of them were from 10-17
years old. Let that sink in.. 10 years old!!!!!

where does most of these assaults happen you ask? 69% of these assaults take place in what's supposed to be the safest place.. our homes. If we aren’t even safe at home, where are we?

These are our daughters, sisters, friends, mothers and classmates. Every number is a life, a name, a face, a future stolen.

I’m sharing my story as a survivor of ongoing childhood sexual abuse, who endured a five year court battle. Despite my abuser being sentenced to 27 years in prison, their identity remains suppressed. Upon release, they could reoffend without anyone in the community knowing their history, because Australia has no public sex offender registry.

This isn’t just my story. It’s the reality for thousands of Australians left vulnerable due to a dangerous lack of transparency.

In countries like the United States, Megan’s Law ensures communities have access to information about known predators. This empowers families to protect their loved ones. Yet, in Australia, 54% of convicted sex offenders have a history of repeat offending, and we are kept in the dark, leaving our most vulnerable. women and children at risk.

How much longer will we allow secrecy to endanger lives?

The Australian government must prioritize public safety by creating a public sexual offender registry, giving families the tools to stay informed and protect themselves. Transparency saves lives! and this is a fight for the safety of every parent, every neighbor, and every child in our communities.

Your signature can help close this loophole and bring Australia in line with other nations committed to protecting their citizens. We cannot wait for another preventable tragedy. We need to act now.

Together, we can demand a safer future. Sign the petition today and share it with everyone you know because every voice matters, and every signature counts in this fight for justice.

Let’s hear the voices of our survivors, protect our children and communities and STOP PROTECTING PREDATORS.
