The proposal to use $600 million of taxpayer money for a new Kansas City Royals Stadium raises serious concerns. With such a massive investment coming from our pockets, shouldn't we, the residents, see a direct benefit? Will we have partial ownership or access to a public space, or at least receive free or discounted access to games? Right now, it feels like we're paying twice—once through taxes and again for expensive tickets and overpriced drinks.

Let’s be clear: If our tax dollars are building this stadium, we deserve transparency and tangible benefits. Residents of Kansas City should not be subjected to exorbitant ticket prices or over-the-top concessions prices on top of this significant contribution. It's unfair to treat us as mere customers when we’re fundamentally the stakeholders in this project. If the city wants to move forward with these plans, they must address these questions.

We love the current stadium; it's clean, familiar, and holds countless memories for many of us. There’s nothing wrong with it. So if there's going to be a push for a new venue with such substantial costs, we demand clarity on how this directly benefits the community. Free or discounted access and fair concession prices should be on the table.
