In our moments of utmost vulnerability, when we face personal injuries, we turn to legal firms like The Simon Law Firm P.C., trusting them to guide us through the legal process with honesty and integrity. Unfortunately, my experience, and the experience of many others, reveals that the promises made to us often resemble a rose garden, yet upon deeper engagement, they turn out to be filled with briars and thorns, causing even more distress and confusion.

Transparency is a fundamental pillar for any ethical relationship, especially between a personal injury victim and their legal representatives. Individuals suffering from personal injuries deserve clear and honest communication about their legal proceedings, realistic expectations, and an understanding of the risks involved. Misleading clients, whether intentionally or due to lack of sufficient disclosure, not only violates the trust we place in these professionals but exacerbates our suffering.

Case in point: 

In 2025 The Simon Law Firm P.C. and Gunn Slater Law Firm advertised that they obtained a 48.1 million dollar jury verdict for a family named Remington (a minor) Sarah and Blake Anyan and the news went viral within days and was featured on many of the St. Louis news channels KSDK, KMOV, FOX2 News etc. and the celebrated that they had "obtained justice" for their client.

However, recently, after the trial records were unsealed and the news media went on to other subjects it was revealed that the attorneys entered into an agreement that capped the recovery for the Anyan Family at 18 million dollars just minutes before the jury returned their verdict. That is 30 million dollars less than what The Simon Law Firm P.C. told the news media and the public at large...! Why? Why would The Simon Law Firm P.C. advertise a 48.1 million dollar award for their client when they knew that at the very most, the very most they could only attempt to recover on 18 million dollars.

Furthermore: The Simon Law Firm P.C. advertises - "At Simon Law, we operate on a contingency fee basis, meaning our clients only pay legal fees if we successfully recover compensation on their behalf." 

This sounds great yes? You pay nothing unless they win. But what the Simon Law Firm P. C. does not tell us is that their contingency fee agreement is based on a "Gross Recovery Model". That means that what ever they recover they take their fee percentage right off the top before litigation expenses are deducted. An ethical law firm uses the "Net Recovery Model" where the law firm first deducts the litigation expenses (the amount they paid out of pocket to advance the case) and they take their fee as a percentage from the net amount. --- In the "Gross Recovery Model" that The Simon Law Firm employs the client pays "a tax" often as much as 40% on the amount that the law firm spent to litigate which means a lot less money in the pockets of their clients. The Simon Law Firm P.C. on their website "fee schedule" does not disclose this. It's a lack of transparency.

What more can I say? The Simon Law Firm advertises about all the cases they have won but never about the cases they have lost or of the cases where the injured party recovered nothing, net-zero, after litigation fees and expenses were deducted. Those cases where The Simon Law Firm recovered their fees and expense yet, the injured party received $0.00 and those cases are multitude..! 

Therefore, I urge The Simon Law Firm P.C. to take immediate steps towards enhancing transparency by implementing the following measures: provide detailed documentation and updates on case progress, ensure all promises made during consultations are feasible and backed by facts, and facilitate open lines of communication between the legal representatives and their clients.

Statistically, many clients of personal injury firms are not fully informed of their case status or potential outcomes, which is both unfair and unethical. Clear and frequent communication, along with genuine transparency about fees, case potential, and timeframes, can significantly alter the recovery journey for victims, ensuring that they feel supported rather than misled.
