Demand Transparency from Greensboro Police Department

Demand Transparency from Greensboro Police Department
The Issue
Said Ezzine was a soft-spoken individual known for his kindness and the respect he offered everyone he met. Despite having no family ties here, he worked tirelessly to build a life and became an integral part of the Greensboro community.
Unfortunately, on August 5, 2025, our community lost Said Ezzine, who was killed by the Greensboro Police. Weeks have passed, yet we still have no answers. As of today authorities have not provided any information, leaving us in the dark about what happened and why police used deadly force. This silence cannot continue.
Said's life was tragically cut short under circumstances that remain unclear, and the Greensboro Police Department has been less than forthcoming with information surrounding his death.
To make matters worse, the Greensboro Police Department has denied the release of both body-worn camera and dashboard camera footage, preventing the public and Said’s family from knowing the truth about what really happened that day. This lack of transparency only deepens the pain and mistrust
We are calling on Mayor Nancy Vaughan, the Greensboro City Council, and the Greensboro Police Department to immediately:
• Release all available information about the incident.
• Release the body-worn camera and dashboard camera footage.
• Ensure an independent investigation into Said’s death.
• Commit to accountability and transparency in their use of deadly force.
Transparency is critical in situations like these, allowing for accountability and fending off any potential injustices. We're asking the Greensboro Police Department to release all information available regarding Said's tragic death, including body camera footage, incident reports, and any other pertinent documents.
This is not just about justice for Said, but about maintaining the integrity of our law enforcement and ensuring the community's trust is not misplaced. It's essential for the broader purpose of establishing fairness and justice within law enforcement practices.
Demand transparency. Demand justice for Said Ezzine. Sign this petition to hold the Greensboro Police Department accountable and ensure that this tragic incident gets the scrutiny it deserves. Your signature can bring us one step closer to clarity and justice.
