The Issue

For countless years, our community has held high school graduation ceremonies on weekend afternoons, a schedule that accommodated the needs of many local families. Recently, however, our local school district made the unilateral decision to shift this important event to Friday nights. This sudden change significantly disrupts the plans and availability of many family members who wish to attend and celebrate this milestone.

This change has resulted in hardships for many working class families who, due to their work schedules, will find it challenging to attend a Friday night event. This shift thus devalues our collective experience and intrudes upon the traditional way our community has always cherished this celebration. The lack of transparency behind the decision-making process is equally unsettling.

As the affected community, we deserve a clear explanation for this decision, as well as consideration for a possible return to the original schedule. We urge the school district to understand the impact of their decision on our families, and request them to reconsider this abrupt change, with an option open to returning to the previous schedule.

We kindly ask all members of our community affected by this change to sign this petition, demanding transparency about the changes and consideration for restoring our long-held tradition of afternoon graduation ceremonies. Please raise your voice and help us to have our concerns heard.
