The Issue

A growing dissatisfaction is sweeping through the student community, fueled by the recent evaluation results released by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). Numerous students have voiced their displeasure over what they perceive as a flawed evaluation process that neither applied the necessary leniency nor provided the required grace marking, especially in cases that warranted it. Such a system not only affects student morale but could also have long-lasting impacts on their future academic and professional pursuits.

The introduction of the On-Screen Marking (OSM) system was intended to streamline the evaluation process, but many argue that it has instead introduced significant flaws. Concerns regarding accuracy and fairness have been raised, with the new system allegedly failing to deliver on its promises. Errors in the evaluation process, if not addressed, could result in students receiving scores that do not accurately reflect their knowledge and capabilities.

It is crucial for the CBSE to ensure a fair and transparent evaluation process that commands the trust of students and educators alike. We propose:

1. Immediate re-evaluation of exam papers, particularly those flagged for discrepancies, using a more transparent method.
2. Review and refinement of the OSM system to address identified flaws and align with best practices.
3. Engagement with students, parents, and educators to gather feedback and improve the evaluation process with an inclusive approach.
4. Implementation of an independent audit of the recent results to pinpoint issues and suggest improvements.

A fair evaluation system is vital to uphold the integrity of education and ensure that every student receives the results they genuinely deserve. Therefore, we urge CBSE to address these pressing issues and restore faith in the education system by adopting our recommendations.

Please sign this petition to demand transparency, fairness, and accountability from CBSE in their evaluation procedures, and to help secure a better future for our students.
