The Issue
Shopify has assumed the power to withhold funds from business owners without clear justification or communication. This practice is not only unethical but also potentially illegal -
My personal experience with Shopify has been a challenging one. I have been left in the dark, left broke and ignored- my business efficacy undermined, and my model disrupted due to decisions made by Shopify based on their own foreseeable agendas & made up laws and regulations based off of states/provinces/territories/countries - they make decisions based off what the person at the desk is thinking or feeling that day, or presumptuous to what they think could be true - without any prior communication to me personally, they put me through a "standard review" disabling my Shopify Payments & Store - I was starting to make headway and they decided to put my business to a dead stop. I contacted support about it and they said i was supposed to be notified by Shopifys Merchent Department of a review prior to my hold and account disabling; I was NOT notified, and I was NOT Provided ANY Information regarding it - it was only after opening this happening to my account as an issue to Shopify Support Teams that i then received the emails i was "supposed" to receive to be made aware i was not going to be paid the date I was expecting - i had december planned out "perfectly" according to my finances and what i was expecting for payouts, my Christmas was just destroyed - i recieved a wave of holiday orders and spent the last of my money pushing those orders out - now shopify will not pay me and have cost me thousands of dollars is potential sales by disabling my store as a whole - they hurt my personal reputation, and did not do a professional job in providing me the information i requested - This is not an isolated incident but a recurring pattern of disregard for their own policies and terms of service.
