Demand Transparency and Accountability in the UPSC Prelims 2025
The Issue

This petition comes from a place of personal frustration and a sense of injustice. This year, I contested in the UPSC Prelims, having sacrificed much and dedicated my time and energy based on past cutoff trends. However, I was taken by surprise when I encountered vast variations between renowned coaching answer keys and the original UPSC answer key, which is only released after a year of anticipation. Such discrepancies are due to the ambiguous framing of questions by UPSC and their method of interpretation.
I am raising this concern on behalf of all the UPSC aspirants in India who share my experience and anxiety. There has been consistent dissatisfaction over the lack of transparency, the unavailability of an answer key immediately after the result, the absence of an omr sheet, delays in cut off exposures, ambiguities in the selection process, and the lack of accountability of UPSC.
The stakes are incredibly high in these exams, determining the futures of thousands of aspirants each year. An ambiguous and opaque selection process is a disservice to the time, effort, and dedication poured in by each of these aspirants. Therefore, it is crucial to introduce immediate reforms in the system for a fair experience for all.
We present our adjacent concerns and demand immediate and unwavering attention from relevant authorities. We call for clear cut-off trends to be published, a transparent answer key posted immediately after results, and unambiguous question frames to ensure fairness in the process. Above all, UPSC needs to stand by its participants and take accountability for its part in this process.
We request fellow aspirants and concerned citizens of India to join hands in this struggle towards fairness and transparency in one of the nation's most prestigious examinations. Please sign this petition and help us initiate change.
