Demand transparency and accountability from Philippine officials

Demand transparency and accountability from Philippine officials
The Issue
We are hard-working citizens of the Philippines, diligently paying our taxes, yet facing the same relentless struggles each time a typhoon hits. Our homes are flooded, our people displaced, and our spirits dampened by the very public officials who are supposed to protect us. We tirelessly contribute to the national budget, only to witness rampant corruption swallowing up funds that should have safeguarded us with adequate flood control projects.
It is abhorrent that despite these misdeeds, we rarely see anyone held accountable. Our corrupt officials enrich themselves at the expense of the Filipino working class, leaving us to bear the consequences. Politicians and their dynastic families live lavishly, while ordinary citizens face the brunt of natural disasters with no relief.
We demand an immediate lifestyle check of public officials, their families, and dynasty politicians especially those 21 names mentioned and released by the DOJ press statement to ensure they are not living beyond their means. Moreover, investigations into kickbacks and corrupt practices within key government agencies like the BIR, BOC, DPWH, DOH, and Agriculture must be prioritized. Each official who has approved or signed insertions that lead to corruption should be meticulously scrutinized.
We call for transparency and accountability at every level. It is time for our government to restore the trust of the people by proving their integrity and dedication to public service. Our plea is for the initiation of a comprehensive and honest audit of government officials' lifestyles and financial dealings, followed by swift action against those who have betrayed the public's trust.
By signing this petition, you are standing with the Filipino people in demanding a government that truly serves its citizens, not just its own interests. Let us unite in calling for justice, transparency, and accountability, for a better Philippines where each citizen feels the tangible benefits of their hard-earned contributions and not the heavy burden of someone else's corruption.
