The incident has happened in Government Vet care Centre, Magarwada, Daman.
As a compassionate caretaker of my society's dogs, I have always ensured that they were well cared for, vaccinated, and treated like family. Sadly, the trust I placed in the government vet hospital has been broken. Of the three dogs I submitted for sterilization, only two were returned, and no explanation was given for the third. Dr. Saurabh, contact no: +91 89820 30193 who is in charge of the sterilization project, is non-responsive, neglecting calls and failing to provide the necessary support for the wellbeing of the animals entrusted to him.
We are deeply concerned about the disappearance of British, a beloved stray dog born and raised in our society in 2022. British was more than just a stray—she was an intelligent, active, and friendly presence in our community. She had been fully vaccinated and never displayed aggression toward anyone.
She was picked up recently for sterilization and taken to the Government Veterinary Hospital, but since then, we have had no clear communication about her condition or whereabouts. No one from the sterilization team is responding to our inquiries. We are left wondering: Did she escape? Was there a mishap during the procedure?
British was a special soul, and we just want to know the truth—whether she’s safe, lost, or if something went wrong. We appeal to the concerned authorities to provide transparency and help us locate her.
It is not just about one dog; this reflects a broader pattern of negligence and lack of accountability in government vet hospitals. Independent studies suggest that an alarming percentage of animals entrusted to government veterinary hospitals in our country are victims of negligence or mishandling. This situation must change. Government veterinary hospitals, funded by citizens' taxes, need to ensure that the animals under their care are treated with respect and dignity, and the staff, including Dr. Saurabh and others, must answer for their actions.
It's time for transparency, responsibility, and respect towards the animals depended on the system. They deserve our compassion, care, and protection just as we, humans, do. Let's hold those in power in these institutions accountable.
