The Issue

Tycho, a beloved dog at Dallas Animal Services (DAS), had become a favorite among the staff and volunteers. Known for his friendly demeanor, he excelled in playgroups, and his daycation was nothing short of a success. It seemed Tycho had everything going for him, yet he was suddenly gone, leaving us all in shock and deep sorrow.

In recent times, DAS had made significant strides under the leadership of the former Assistant Director, who was transparent and actively worked for the wellbeing of the animals. The staff was motivated and felt supported in their mission. However, the new changes in management led by Assistant Director Amanda raise serious concerns about the priorities at DAS. The choice to mark the facility as "at capacity" despite having empty kennels and deciding against giving Tycho a chance is troubling and inconsistent with the values we hold dear.

The staff and volunteers at DAS are dedicated and compassionate, tirelessly working to ensure the welfare of the animals. They are deeply impacted by decisions that undermine their efforts and the trust of the community. It pains them, and us, to see decisions that don't align with the transparent and supportive approach that DAS had embraced before.

We call on DAS leadership, particularly Assistant Director Amanda, to reevaluate their strategy and prioritize animal welfare over bureaucratic decisions. We demand transparency in their operational decisions, detailed explanations for such choices, and a commitment to truly being a shelter that values life over numbers.

Let's unite and voice our support for the DAS staff and volunteers who are the heart and soul of the organization. Their love for the animals deserves to be honored with decisions that reflect care and compassion. Sign this petition to urge Amanda at Dallas Animal Services to embrace transparency, accountability, and a genuine commitment to every animal's life. We can't bring Tycho back but we have to speak up. Him being euthanized isn't humane and isn't okay.

Speak up for Tycho.
