Galen College of Nursing has established a policy that prevents students from reviewing specific errors on their exam results under the ruse of test integrity, instead only offering broadly generalized areas of error, such as "patient safety."

This policy not only hampers students' ability to learn from their mistakes and improve, but it also puts an undue obstacle in the way of their educational progress and professional growth. Furthermore, it denies the student body the opportunity to adequately audit exam results against the textbook or provided educational material. This opaque approach to education does not befit an institution dedicated to the foundation of future nurses who will be responsible for patient care. We believe a more transparent policy that gives students detailed access to their exam results will contribute profoundly to their learning process and prepare them better for their future roles. Changes in education policies have been seen to produce positive effects; a study found that nursing students' performance improved significantly when given detailed feedback (Plain et al., 2019).

For the sake of improved student performance and advancement in their nursing career, we urge Galen College of Nursing to implement a change in its policy regarding access to exam results to ensure the safest and best patient care is provided by our student body.
