Turning Point USA was built around organizing and engaging young conservatives. When student leaders publicly walk away from that organization and question its direction, its board should listen.

In recent months, there have been at least two significant public breaks involving campus leadership.

In March 2026, the University of Arkansas chapter of Turning Point USA announced that it was disaffiliating from the national organization and rebranding as Young American Revival.

The chapter's leadership cited concerns about the direction and messaging of the national organization. Former chapter president Dino Fantegrossi also explained that becoming independent would give the student organization greater freedom over its work.

Then, in April 2026, Caroline Mattox resigned as president of Turning Point USA's University of Georgia chapter.

In her public resignation statement, Mattox said she believed TPUSA's current direction no longer aligned with the principles on which the organization was founded.

These are documented decisions by individual student leaders. They do not establish that every TPUSA chapter—or even most TPUSA students—shares those concerns. They also do not establish that Erika Kirk personally caused either departure.

But they should matter to an organization whose mission depends heavily on students.

Erika Kirk currently serves as both Chief Executive Officer and Chair of Turning Point USA's Board of Directors, according to TPUSA's own website.

We believe these recent student departures give TPUSA's board sufficient reason to reconsider that leadership structure and the organization's direction.

We are calling on Turning Point USA's Board of Directors to appoint new executive leadership and replace Erika Kirk as CEO.

This is not an allegation of misconduct against Erika Kirk.

It is a request for a leadership change.

People can disagree in good faith about whether Erika Kirk is the right person to lead TPUSA. The board may believe she remains the best choice. Others—including this petition's signers—can look at the same organization and conclude that a change in executive leadership is needed.

That is precisely the kind of judgment a nonprofit board exists to make.

We are also asking the board to separate the positions of CEO and Board Chair, so that the organization's chief executive and the person leading its board are not the same individual.

Separating those positions would create a clearer distinction between executive leadership and board oversight. Our request does not assume or allege that the current arrangement is unlawful or that any board member has acted improperly.

Finally, before selecting TPUSA's next executive leader, the board should hear directly from current and former campus leaders—including those who have publicly disagreed with the organization's recent direction.

A national student organization should take its student leaders seriously, including when their message is uncomfortable.

We ask Turning Point USA's Board of Directors to:

1. Appoint new executive leadership and replace Erika Kirk as CEO.

2. Separate the CEO and Board Chair positions.

3. Consult current and former chapter leaders about TPUSA's direction before choosing its next CEO.

4. Establish a clear process through which campus leaders can raise concerns directly with the board.

This petition does not ask anyone to attack Erika Kirk personally. It does not make allegations about her character, motives, finances, or conduct.

It makes a straightforward organizational argument:

When student leaders publicly leave and raise concerns about the direction of a student-centered national organization, its board should listen—and decide whether new leadership is needed.

We believe that moment has arrived.
