Demand The Young Americans College To Retract Timothy Schneider's Expulsion

The Issue

On 9/12/2024, I, Timothy Schneider, was expelled from The Young Americans College of Performing Arts (YACPA) without due process. This action goes against the right to due process conferred by the California Supreme Court on students attending private universities (Boermeester v. Carry, 263 Cal. Rptr. 3d 261 (Cal. Ct. App. 2020)). The Dean of Students, Juandretta Murphy, cited a violation of "housing policies" as the reason, yet I was not given a chance to present my case. This sudden action has impacted my future, cut short my education, and introduced a number of unforeseen complications into my life.

Beyond my personal story, this incident raises concerns about the institutional practices at YACPA. It highlights possible violations of student's rights and a lack of transparency in proceedings. It's clear that a culture shift is necessary for YACPA, especially fair treatment and adherence to due process.

I seek justice, not just for myself, but for every YACPA student potentially facing a similar situation. Your support can make a significant difference. By signing this petition, we are collectively urging YACPA to retract my expulsion, and reconsider their policy on student's rights. Stand with me today in this fight for justice. Sign the petition.
