In recent times, the unreleased movie 'Emergency' by Kangana Ranaut has been surrounded by controversy and noise. A  section of people  have passed judgement without viewing the entirety of the film, basing their conclusions on a trailer of less than 3 minutes. This demographic seeks to prevent the release of the film, raising questions about freedom of expression through art. Yet as a nation, India faces more pronounced issues daily, such as crime against women and children. According to the National Crime Records Bureau, a crime against a woman is committed every 15 minutes in India (source: NCRB report 2020), far outweighing the alleged impacts of a film's narrative. Furthermore, this stifling of artistic freedom goes against  Article 19 of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees freedom of speech and expression (source: Indian Constitution). We urge for balance and fairness. The movie 'Emergency' deserves to be released and viewed in its entirety before judgements are passed. We call on all film viewers, lovers of the arts, and advocates for freedom of expression to support this cause. Please share this petition
