Having seen a beloved canine companion being unfairly treated, and realizing that this is not a lone occurrence but a systemic issue within our local shelter. Dogs are unfairly and unjustifiably being put down without proper attempts at re-homing or rehabilitation. This heart-wrenching issue puts us all in an untenable position. We feel forced to act against this reckless disregard for animal life by its Director. Shockingly, according to the Humane Society of the United States, 1.5 million animals (670,000 dogs and 860,000 cats) are euthanized each year in shelters across the country. This is not a statistic we wish to contribute to. It's time to take action and demand that our shelter aligns its policies with best practices for animal welfare.
