Demand the Termination of Dan Clancy & Twitch Execs | Updated 2025 post TwitchCon 2025

Demand the Termination of Dan Clancy & Twitch Execs | Updated 2025 post TwitchCon 2025
The Issue
This petition, as a community-led summary of widely reported, public domain events:
---
I am not affiliated with Emiru, I am a concerned community member, who attended TwitchCon. These events have been well documented, and even covered in Major News outlets like Fox News, NY Post, IGN, etc. It is part of Public Domain, and has entered the sphere of national press. Not to mention international streamers who attended TwitchCon. This is being talked about in the US, Canada, and else where. Since it is National Press, Twitch can not use the Voices of Concerned Community members against any individual creator.
An Urgent Call for Accountability: Restoring Trust and Safety at Twitch After the TwitchCon 2025 Catastrophe
To the Board of Directors of Amazon and Twitch Leadership,
The Twitch community is in a state of crisis. The events of TwitchCon 2025 were not a simple mishap but a catastrophic system failure that exposed a culture of negligence, unprofessionalism, and a blatant disregard for creator safety under the leadership of Dan Clancy. We, the community, demand immediate and decisive action to restore the integrity and safety of our platform.
TwitchCon 2025: A Monumental Security and Ethical Failure
The assault on streamer Emiru on a public stage was a preventable tragedy that laid bare Twitch's profound incompetence. The convention was a case study in failed security and broken trust:
Lax and Ineffective Security: The event was critically under-policed, with only one or two police cars on standby for tens of thousands of attendees. TwitchCon staff routinely broke protocol by allowing groups without meet-and-greet reservations into secured areas and failed to conduct basic background checks on "plus ones."
Punishing Protection, Enabling Harassment: In an act that defies all logic, Twitch wrongfully banned the account of Emiru's trusted security guard—a professional who successfully detained a known individual who had stalked the streamer, thus preventing a similar situation. Twitch's own security failed, and when a professional stepped in to do their job, he was punished. This perverse incentive must be rectified immediately.
Disrespect and Doxing of Creators: Community gifts, for multiple creators (both Face Came Streamers and Vtubers a like) were thrown away by staff, and in an egregious violation of trust and privacy, V-Tubers were forcibly subjected to face-reveals and had their full legal names shouted publicly for ID verification.
A Culture of Cover-Ups: Twitch leadership deliberately lied to the public, claiming Emiru's assailant was detained and turned over to police, a statement directly contradicted by evidence and witness testimony.
Dan Clancy's Failed Leadership: Double Standards and Unprofessional Conduct
The chaos of TwitchCon is a direct reflection of Dan Clancy's failed leadership. His tenure has been marked by:
Pervasive Double Standards: There is overwhelming evidence that Twitch's Trust & Safety team applies rules inconsistently, particularly regarding hateful conduct and harassment. High-profile streamers who bring clout are often shielded from consequences, while lesser-known creators face stringent penalties, creating a two-tiered system of justice. Often also playing Favorites with how two big name creators are treated very differently.
Unprofessional and Parasocial Behavior: For a CEO to consistently refer to streamers on his platform as his "friends" is deeply unprofessional and parasocial. This faux-familiarity blurs necessary boundaries, creates the appearance of favoritism, and seems to be a tactic to deflect from hard questions about accountability. A CEO's duty is to lead fairly and enforce policies impartially, not to cultivate a "friendly" persona while the platform burns.
The Complicity of Taylor Lorenz
The response to this crisis was further poisoned by "Supposed" journalist Taylor Lorenz, who in her defense of Dan Clancy and Twitch's lax security, stated: "All the security in the world wouldn't matter because of Misogyny." This is a morally bankrupt and ironically misogynistic take that argues against implementing robust safety measures for women. She then attempted to go after Cinna, Emiru's housemate and friend, for calling out this dangerous rhetoric and highlighting that basic security protocols TwitchCon staff failed to follow. By defending failure and attacking those demanding safety, Lorenz has shown she is complicit in the culture that enables harm. She is also questioning, Cinna's intelligence, by telling her to deny events she saw with her own eyes. this is extremely condescending, ironically towards another woman.
Our Demands
We will no longer accept empty apologies and broken promises. We demand the following immediate actions:
1. The Termination of Dan Clancy: His demonstrated incompetence, the culture of double standards, and his unprofessional leadership make him unfit to lead Twitch.
2. An Independent Investigation: A full, third-party investigation into the security failures and corporate cover-up of TwitchCon 2025, as well as the inconsistent application of Trust & Safety policies.
3. Reinstate Emiru's Security Guard: The immediate and public unbanning of the wrongfully banned security guard from Twitch services and events, with a formal apology for the defamation of his professional character.
4. Distance and Dissasociate from Taylor Lorenz: Twitch must ban Taylor Lorenz from its platform for using her reach to spread misinformation and harmful rhetoric that actively undermines the safety and well-being of women on Twitch. This is clearly a lack of journalistic ethics, to engage is thinly veiled cover up, instead of exposing internal negligence, she instead assist in a blatant cover up.
This is a fight for the soul of our community. We will not stand by as our sanctuary is destroyed by negligence, lies, and a leadership team that refuses to accept responsibility.
Sign this petition to tell Amazon and Twitch that the community demands safety, integrity, and accountability. The time for change is now.
A call for justice. Sign this petition today, and help us ensure that Twitch remains a true sanctuary for gaming enthusiasts worldwide.
Let us not forget any other Failures Dan Clancy has Caused for Amazon. Like Poorly Worded Policy Changes he made that caused advertisers to pull out.
