The Issue

As a tax-paying citizen, it is deeply personal and disheartening to witness politicians such as Gerry Connelly who fail to adequately represent the interests of the individuals like myself who elected him. Our Democratic platform is structured on the principle of serving the public, reflecting their opinions, and addressing their concerns. The fact that Mr. Connelly has consistently disregarded our voices is an affront to our democracy. Furthermore, it is upsetting that we continue to fund his salary despite his refusal to fulfill his electoral mandate.

Statistics revealed by the Center For Responsive Politics indicate that in 2020, members of Congress received a total salary of $174,000, which is funded by us, the taxpayers (CRP, 2020). It is unjustified that we contribute to the salary of a public servant who is not adequately serving his public duties. Moreover, the repeated unresponsiveness of Mr. Connelly has left a majority of his constituents feeling unrepresented and overlooked.

It is an undeniable right for constituents to expect their elected representatives to perform their duties. Therefore, we demand the resignation of Gerry Connelly for his failure to represent his constituents. We encourage all the citizens who believe in the tenet of public representation to raise their voice against this failure of democratic service. Together, let's ensure our leaders serve us as duly required. Please sign this petition and take a stand for our democratic rights.
