Dr. Pamela Whitten,

As faculty, graduate workers, students, staff, and alumni, we have wished for your success in leading our University. It is not in our IU Promise to will the failure of others or dispute without due diligence. Not without grief, we ask that you consider your position in the President’s Office of Indiana University. 

Here is our due diligence: 

• We, a majority of senior faculty, met and voted no confidence in your and your Provost’s leadership.
• We have requested transparency on budget cuts, necessary or not, and received little effort for collaboration on your part.
• We have called for a Graduate Workers Union, and you have shown open hostility against the Workers who support vital functions of this institution.
• We have gathered peacefully on Dunn Meadow to protest IU’s investment in internationally condemned war crimes. Despite the land being a historic grounds for Free Speech, you called in State Troopers to suppress unarmed students. You allow snipers to aim at your students on their own Union building. 
• We have hoped and pleaded for a brighter future under your leadership and been met with defensiveness and silence. 

Dr. Whitten, it is clear that these failures are not isolated, but a wholly accurate representation of your leadership skills. Our University is cooperative, clear, and diversely minded. Those who hold malice to these values are not fit for leading the charge. 

We, your faculty, graduate workers, students, staff, and alumni, demand the Immediate Resignation of Pamela Whitten from Indiana University.
