As a mother and member with small children and a woman who has experienced abuse, I am deeply concerned about the leadership within our community. The current Chief's (Claire Sault) spouse (Darrell Clause Jr) has been allegedly involved in activities that compromise the safety and well-being of our Nation (Alleged Sexual & Physical Abuse of Women & Children - according to 6/7 different public victim statements). It is crucial for us to have leaders who prioritize the security and prosperity of all members, especially vulnerable women and children.

There is documentation proving the Chief was aware of the allegations prior to running in the election, and chose to not only bail him out but also hide it from the public. She chose to bring him into the homes of our women, children, and Elders alongside her whilst she campaigned! 

She has since represented the community in events such as: The Historical Gathering, Little NHL, MMIWG+, ironically with him by her side, allegedly. And so many more, many of these events relating to children, and our elders. Allowing her to stay at our table is allowing his choices in our Nation as she has done thus far on our behalf. 

The leadership should be held accountable to maintain trust within Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation. We need change now to ensure a safe environment for future generations.
