11/18. On Friday - spoke with Board of Elections. They have nothing yet from AL Board of Ed. The request is likely at Lorain County for appraisal of millage. If we can find someone to duplicate their role - could be helpful to cross compare to bounce it out. May want to go a property insurance route as they could do or get appraiser or actuary. Another person is to contact Board of Elections on campaign finance. The AL Board treasurer and her secretary was emailed x3 to provide 11/12 minutes. Someone said the special meeting was on ALBOE website. It is not that I see. Please double check. Also no minutes of meetings up since 10/10. The Secretary of State office regarding Elections was contacted per suggestion of Lorain County Board of Elections. 

Also--> Disclaimer Some in community want to remind:  This is not a 'special election'.  It is an issue that will be on the ballot during Ohio's presidential primary. This is a bond, not a levy. 
 

11/17 Signers - I do not want to give a false notion that the March election can be stopped. So please plan to vote until proven otherwise. How would an appeal work? Timeframe? There is concern over how the "repeat" election with THE SAME VOTED DOWN PROPOSAL WAS DONE- by special exclusive meeting in Columbus - far from Avon Lake and 17 days before an 11/29 community meeting. I think it sets a terrible precedent to young people that back door meetings are the way to accomplish one's means & ends. Thank you for your support. Sign & share.

11/15 As a concerned citizen of Avon Lake, OH, I am deeply troubled by the recent actions of our newly elected City School superintendent, Joelle Magyar. The school levy failed to pass in November 2023. Despite this clear message from us citizens, Ms. Magyar is defiantly seeking another special election in March 2024.

This move not only disrespects our democratic decision but also threatens to disenfranchise our senior citizens who may find it challenging to exercise their constitutional right due to the timing of this special election. This disregard for community sentiment and potential violation of voting rights is unacceptable.

We believe that a leader should respect and uphold the will of its people rather than circumvent it for personal agendas. Therefore, we are calling for the immediate resignation of Joelle Magyar as Avon Lake City School superintendent.

We also demand an end to any plans for a March 2024 special election which goes against the expressed will of Avon Lake's voters as demonstrated in November 2023.

Our schools need leaders who listen and act according to the best interests of all stakeholders - students, parents, teachers and community members alike. We deserve better than what we're currently getting from Ms. Magyar's leadership.
