I am an animal advocate who strongly believes in the respect and rights of all living beings, hence, I lend my voice to this crucial petition. Recently, we've learned that Michael Vick has been appointed as the head coach at Norfolk State University. His track record when it comes to the ethical treatment of animals is far from commendable, causing widespread concern among the public and the student community.

Specifically, Michael Vick's involvement in an illegal interstate dog fighting ring for five years is a well-known fact. Even after serving time in prison, many believe that such an individual should not be in a position of influence, especially within an educational institution, moulding the minds of the youth.

By maintaining Vick in his current position, Norfolk State University not only disregards this public outcry but also sends a message that animal abuse can be overlooked if it's convenient. Our younger generation must learn the values of empathy, respect and kindness towards all creatures, and having a figurehead associated with grave cruelty against animals counters this goal.

This is why it's critical to demand the immediate removal of Michael Vick from his post at Norfolk State University. The university must ensure its leaders not only have the skill to coach but also live up to high moral and ethical standards.
