Despite the incident happening in a widely accessed area during school hours, Loving found no immediate aid. His crisis was overlooked by lunch monitors and security guards, leaving him in excruciating pain and terror. Making matters worse, the news of Darrin’s death was not duly conveyed to his mother by the school. Instead, she made this harrowing discovery through an impersonal source like social media.

This incident marks a horrifying climax of a series of tragic incidents that have occurred under the watch of our high school principal, Jessika Hearne. In the recent past, a 14-year old student, Hannah Heredia, fell prey to unchecked bullying, leading her to take her life in 2021. Hearne took no substantial actions to curb these bullies, despite their activities being common knowledge. A similarly cavalier attitude was exhibited when Allan Guillen was allowed to leave school premises, eventually meeting with a fatal shooting incident.

These incidents signify a grave dereliction of duty from Hearne and echo a frightening negligence towards the safety of our children. These multiple losses of our youth at Manor Senior High School, tragedies that could have been avoided with responsible administration, are a testament to a systemic decay under the leadership of Jessika Hearne. It is clear that our children's lives and wellbeing can no longer be entrusted to her.
