Demand the Removal of Erin Gettis from Director of Riverside County Animal service

The Issue

Stop the killing of healthy adoptable animals.  We have a legal and moral duty to protect and care for helpless animals, not just be a killing factory, for space. CVAC ignores and dismisses The Hayden Act, which states, They need to treat these animal’s humanly. CVAC does not, The hurt animals, are left to suffer in pain and agony for days, even weeks, in hope they get rescued or adopted so they can get the medical care needed. This is inhumane , and immoral. Erin Gettis is not a Role Model for any shelter, and has done anything to help stop the killings or suffering of any animals, since she has been in her position of authority in the animal welfare community.  As a taxpayer of Riverside County who advocates for the innocent animals at The Coachella Valley Animal Campus (CVAC Shelter), it deeply saddens and angers me to witness the indifference shown by Erin Gettis in her role at the helm of animal welfare decisions. Erin Gettis, who purportedly holds an influential position, has consistently displayed a distressing lack of empathy and experience when it comes to safeguarding the wellbeing of the animals under her care. Such negligence is not only detrimental to these precious lives but it also undermines the efforts of our dedicated rescues, fosters, and networkers who fight tirelessly to ensure every animal gets the love and respect they deserve. Staff members at CVAC constantly tries to sabotage a rescue or adopter from taking a animal to safety , especially if it’s on the Euthanasia list. Which, there is no process on which animal lives or dies. Listing a 5-10 month dog as BEHAVIOR is just Ridiculous, and unconscionable. We need Immediate Change for this shelter, and, that will not happen until there is a Qualified and Compassionate Leader.

Regrettably, Erin's reign has been characterized by numerous decisions that adversely impact animal welfare. This is a gross misuse of power and contravenes the very essence of her position. Animal control leaders should foremostly possess a genuine love for animals, and the expertise to make decisions that benefit them. Unfortunately, Erin's tenure has been indicative of an egregious lack of both.

It is high time we demand accountability and change. We need a leader in whom we can place our trust, one who understands the weight of their decisions, and one who values and respects animal life as we do. By signing this petition, we seek the removal of Erin Gettis from her position and demand the installation of a qualified, empathetic, and dedicated professional who will uphold the values and commitments necessary for this role. Your signature will send a clear message that the lives of animals in Riverside County matter, and that we will not stand for indifference or incompetence in the face of their welfare and rights.
