Like many others, I am personally invested in the issue of Domestic Violence. It's a crucial issue, prevalent across our nation and leading to tragic loss of life on a daily basis due to the acts of intimate partner violence. The pain is incomprehensible and even more so when the abuse is publicly displayed, seemingly encouraged, and even mocked. Angela Deem, a cast member of numerous shows on the TLC network and Sharp Entertainment productions, has consistently exhibited violent and aggressive behavior on-screen. This normalizes and promotes domestic violence, something that is absolutely unacceptable. Fans, including myself, are disgusted and disturbed by the flagrant promotion of such violent behavior. It is time to take a stand against this form of entertainment which contributes to the normalization of abuse on such a large platform. It's estimated that nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States, we should not perpetuate this cycle on our Television screens (National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, 2015). Domestic Violence is a severe issue not to be taken lightly. I implore TLC television network and Sharp Entertainment to terminate Angela Deem’s association with all shows, projects, and productions. Please sign this petition to demonstrate that you stand with victims of domestic violence and to show your refusal to support media that perpetuates abusive behavior.
