I am a member of the United Kingdom, a diverse nation built on unity, community, and respect for all perspectives. I am deeply disturbed and saddened by the harmful language used by our new Labour MP Ricky Jones. His call to a crowd to "cut all the throats" of anti-immigration protestors is not only disrespectful to our democratic processes but it instigates violence which could lead to unthinkable harm.

Jones swore an oath when he took office to preserve, protect and defend the interests of our nation and its people. His recent violent rhetoric stresses the need to respect different opinions in our shared community.

Freedom of speech is codified in our laws, and it must be upheld, but it must align with the standards of respect and non-violence. It's high time public servants, like Jones, are held accountable for their harmful conduct. To prevent the escalation of such antagonism in our community, it is critical we demand his removal from office and his prosecution for inciting violence.
