Linda Chavez's tenure on the board of trustees at the Alum Rock Union School District directly affects the lives of many. Backed by the Silicon Valley Association of Republican Women, Chavez has shown blatant disregard for the teaching and inclusion of LGBTQ+ members in our school community. This is an outright endangerment to our LGBTQ+ students and staff, particularly in a politically charged climate. It is essential that all students and faculty feel safe, represented, and valued in their educational setting, irrespective of their identify or orientation. Chavez's viewpoint is a harsh blow against such an inclusive environment.

Furthermore, Chavez perceives special education as an unnecessary burden on the district's finances, rather than as an obligatory service that fulfills both a moral and legal responsibility. Education should never be about cost-cutting measures but about providing necessary support and services to all students.

Adding insult to injury, Chavez has continuously demonstrated disrespect toward other board members, parents, and key stakeholders by being rude and dismissive. Such behavior is not becoming of a public official whose duty it is to understand and address the concerns and issues of all constituents.
