Save the Seattle King County Clinic

Save the Seattle King County Clinic
The Issue
In its six years of operation, Seattle/King County Clinic (SKCC) has been able to provide $20 million in dental, vision, medical and social services to 23,000 patients because of valuable support from partners, donors, volunteers and the greater community. The Clinic is part of the safety net which serves those most marginalized in our region. It truly takes a village to provide healthcare, even on a small scale, to all those who need it.
In this time of great impact on our healthcare system, it is more important than ever that we all meet our obligations to one another. This includes corporate entities like The Oakview Group, which manages Climate Pledge Arena. The Seattle King County clinic is a heavy logistical lift requiring advanced scheduling of specialized equipment and enlisting thousands of volunteers. The Clinic has not been able to provide essential services to our community for the last two years due to the Covid 19 pandemic, so that medical, dental and vision needs of many have not been addressed.
Unfortunately The Oakview Group has backed out of the previously agreed upon dates for the Clinic in 2022, choosing instead to book other events in Climate Pledge Arena on those dates.
This action is not what community oriented partners should do. We the undersigned leadership, friends and clients of the SKCC call on The Oakview Group to abide by their previous agreement and be a responsible partner in facilitating provision of healthcare services to our community members most in need.
