Demand the Investigation of Renee Nicole Good's Killing Be Handed Back to Minnesota

Demand the Investigation of Renee Nicole Good's Killing Be Handed Back to Minnesota
The Issue
After ICE agent Jonathan E. Ross fatally shot Renee Nicole Good — a U.S. citizen, mother, and Minneapolis resident — Minnesotans were promised accountability.
Instead, the federal government took it away.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) was initially asked to assist in the investigation of Renee Good’s killing. Then, without warning, federal authorities reversed course.
The FBI seized full control of the case and cut Minnesota off entirely — revoking access to evidence, witnesses, and investigative materials.
This decision is unacceptable.
State leaders, including Governor Tim Walz, have said plainly that Minnesota must be part of this investigation. Not only because the killing happened on Minnesota soil — but because federal officials have already publicly defended the shooter, labeled Renee Good a “domestic terrorist,” and declared the shooting “self-defense” before any independent review.
That is not justice. That is a cover-up in plain sight.
Video evidence shared publicly contradicts the federal narrative. Local officials and eyewitnesses dispute ICE’s account. And yet the same federal agencies responsible for the operation — and for defending the agent — now control the investigation entirely.
No transparency. No independence. No trust.
Minnesota law enforcement agencies investigate officer-involved shootings every day. They are capable, experienced, and accountable to the people who live here. Removing the state from this process sends a chilling message: when federal agents kill civilians, they will investigate themselves.
We are calling for:
- Immediate restoration of Minnesota’s Bureau of Criminal Apprehension to the investigation
- Full evidence-sharing with state authorities
- An independent, transparent process that includes Minnesota officials
- Public release of all video, forensic, and witness evidence.
Renee Good’s family, her community, and the people of Minnesota deserve a fair investigation — not one controlled by political appointees who have already decided the outcome.
Sign this petition to demand the investigation be handed back to Minnesota. Justice cannot exist without accountability.
