Most concerning though, is his admission of extracting narcotics from the deceased for personal use. This breach of trust undermines the confidence, respect and assurance expected from such a position meant to serve the people and their beloved departed.

The insistence for his resignation is born out of a pressing need for the office of the Coroner to have a responsible individual, who acts with integrity, dedication and suitable competencies. The people of Yakima County deserve officials who uphold the law, execute their duties faithfully and exemplary, especially during such sensitive moments as dealing with a loved one's passing. To that end, it is essential that an individual with a substance abuse problem, which directly affects their ability to perform job duties with a clear mind and honesty, should not be tolerated in this position.
