As someone deeply affected by the violent acts perpetuated in the NFL, it's time for us to take a stand and demand accountability from the league. Al Shaair, a player whose actions have roused concern and outrage, repeatedly exhibits intentional hatred, abuse, and delivers menacing illegal hits. The NFL's continued dismissal and tolerance of such behavior only embolden him, as he repeats these actions with no remorse. His blatant disregard for the welfare of his fellow players, demonstrated by insincere apologies, is unacceptable and inconsistent with the values of sportsmanship.

The NFL has an obligation to safeguard its players' health and safety. The severity and frequency of injuries alone is alarming, with the NFL reporting 224 concussions in the 2019 season alone (NFL Health and Safety Report, 2019). Statements made by Al Shaair, as well as his continuous, unabated, violent conduct, has no place in a league pursued by many for its exaltation of athletic skill, teamwork, and fair play.

This petition, personal to each one of us who cares for humanity and fair play, calls for Al Shaair's removal from the NFL. The pattern of violence he exhibits, whether on the field or off it, is not the characteristic of someone who respects the sport or his peers. Instead of football, maybe he would be better suited to a field where violence is the core, such as boxing.

In demanding Al Shaair's removal, we bring attention to the grave need for comprehensive conduct policies in the NFL -- policies that prioritize players over profits. Let's make the NFL a haven for sportsmanlike conduct and ensure actions such as Al Shaair's have no place in our beloved football arenas.
