Demand the Home Secretary to Revise Criminal Justice System and Reinstate Capital Punishment for Murder

The Issue

I am reaching out to you as a worried parent and grandparent, apprehensive about the future safety of my loved ones. The reintroduction and deterrent power of capital punishment could have a profound effect on would-be wrongdoers, thereby nurturing a safer society and protecting our children's future.

In recent years, the criminal justice system seems to be lenient on violent crimes, particularly murder. Heinous criminals are walking the streets after serving minimal sentences, leaving the public living in fear and doubt about its efficacy. Indeed, according to the Office for National Statistics, the year up to September 2020 saw a rise of 9% in homicides compared to the previous year in England and Wales - an alarming trend that must be addressed.

Investment in crime prevention measures and occasional punitive sentences do not seem to be enough to curtail the increasing violent crime rate. As such, it is time for drastic changes. We ask our Home Secretary to urgently usher in reforms in our criminal justice system that reinstates capital punishment for the crime of murder which will not only act as a deterrent but will provide the victims and their families with some sense of justice.

Let's voice out the concerns of millions like myself and demand a safer future for our children and grandchildren. Your signing this petition can be a first step towards that aim, so I urge you to take a stand and lend your support. Sign our petition today.
