We along with 9 other States, Canada & Europe, who have banned gestation crates call this ANIMAL CRUELTY!   The ECF has on display a female pig in a gestation crate with her piglets. Mother Pigs spend over 80% of their existence housed in extreme confinement. Don’t buy the excuse that crates are there to protect the piglets. Gestation crates allow producers to cram together as many sows as possible to save on cost with no regard for the mother’s welfare.

Fair representatives may tell you that the AVMA (American Veterinary Medical Association) find gestation crates acceptable practice. The AVMA also finds Cow Face Branding, Force Feeding Ducks, and Steel-Jaw Traps as acceptable practices too.
