As a deeply concerned citizen, I am appalled by the inhumane and unethical treatment of our Heritage listed Brumbies. These horses are not just animals; they are an integral part of our Australian culture and heritage, deserving respect and protection. It is with great distress that we witness the mismanagement under NSW Minister of Heritage & Environment Penny Sharpe MP. The recent slaughter of an undefined number of these majestic creatures has left us far below the required 3,000 heritage listed horses.

The approval to shoot in Horse Retention Zones is a clear violation of their rights and a blatant disregard for their welfare. Furthermore, it's alarming to note that 300 Brumbies were slaughtered at an illegal abattoir in NSW through NPWS - another act approved under Sharpe's watch.

This gross misconduct falls under her jurisdiction as she oversees the Kosciuszko Horse Heritage Act 2018. Her actions have shown a lackadaisical approach towards preserving our cultural heritage and protecting these innocent animals from harm.

We cannot stand by while this atrocity continues unchecked. We demand immediate action - removal & sacking of Penny Shape MP from her position as NSW Minister for Heritage & Environment due to her gross mismanagement leading to unnecessary loss and suffering among our cherished Brumbies.

Its now July 2026, 2 years since i started this petition and Penny Sharpe is still upto her old tricks.  With over 13 dead brumbies found MATAGI included this year is suppose to be the worse yet, as they are erradicating EVERYTHING FERAL OR INVASIVE .. Though no one has seen a dead wild dog, or pigs, or foxes, or cats, or deer just brumbies... Some shot close to the road and in the retention zones, where these horses are legally safe..

Please  keep sharing and if you haven't signed  pleasesign this petition, if you believe in justice for these iconic horses, preservation of Australian cultural heritage, and accountability within our government officials' ranks. Penny Sharpe doesn't deserve to be our Minister of Heritage, she deserves to be charged with crimes of cruelty to an animal that held or holds heritage protected  status .. Trying to Erradicate the values, morals,  culture and history of Australia isn't what being the Minister of Heritage and Environment is about, she just needs to go.
