Demand the Consideration of Narcissistic Abuse in Legal Proceedings

Demand the Consideration of Narcissistic Abuse in Legal Proceedings
The Issue
UPDATE: this is the adult son. My father is putting my mother in jail, taken her social media away (First Amendment Right), and charged and convicted her with contempt when it’s in the parenting plan how she wasn’t! My mom deserves justice! She fought to have her kids voices and the emotional hell we’ve been through heard, but no one is listening. I’ll be her voice because she is ours.
This petition springs from a deeply personal and ongoing legal battle with a narcissistic ex/father. We have stepped up to acknowledge our errors, but the real victim in this vicious cycle, our teenage daughter, is being overlooked. My adult son who still struggles with the madness of having a narcissistic parent has voluntarily joined me to get awareness. She’s mature enough to articulate her experiences, is trapped in a situation where she's legally compelled to endure the ongoing narcissistic abuse from one of the parents.
While I firmly support the rights of fathers, I cannot turn a blind eye when narcissistic behavior is involved. The documented evidence since the start of our court dealings clearly points to such nefarious conduct. Despite all the documented evidence at hand, our legal system seems to be somewhat dismissive and blindsided when it comes to recognizing this kind of abuse. Not legally force people to interact with the hell that is narcissistic abuse.
According to a study published in The American Journal of Psychiatry, children who are recipients of such torment often experience long-term psychological effects, thus showcasing the immediate need for our legal system to address the same (Zanarini, MC et. al., 2000). Correspondingly, a Kidscape report states that one in ten victims of emotional abuse becomes vulnerable to mental health disorders, suicidal tendencies, and struggles with maintaining relationships (Kidscape, 2021).
It's high time our legal system acknowledges narcissistic abuse as an important factor in legal matters, especially those involving children. We can't allow more kids to be caught in the crossfire, damaging their psyche for years to come. So, we urge the lawmakers to take this ignored form of abuse seriously, particularly in legal cases involving child custody or parental rights. Please sign this petition to tell our lawmakers that narcissistic abuse should not be overlooked in our courts anymore.
