I am an animal lover living in Bourbonnais, IL, and it breaks my heart to share the painful reality many have witnessed at Perry Farm. Day in and day out, the animals are left out in the sun with no shade or water. The vision of them passing out - hurt and neglected - is gut-wrenching. The sound of that boar stuck in a fence, crying out in desperation is something we cannot shake from our thoughts.

Our local farm should be a sanctuary for these creatures, not a place of suffering. According to the Humane Society of the United States, facilities like these are required by law to provide adequate care, that includes appropriately sized shelters, food, water, and medical attention. In spite of these legal requirements, I have seen countless instances of neglect and abuse.

We cannot stay silent and allow this blatant disregard for animal welfare to continue. Bourbonnais is a caring community, and we owe it to these animals to speak up. Let's demand that local authorities inspect Perry Farm and enforce the proper welfare standards.
