Demand the Capital City of Lansing Call for a Permanent Ceasefire in Gaza

Demand the Capital City of Lansing Call for a Permanent Ceasefire in Gaza
The Issue
The majority of Michiganders and residents across the United States are profoundly opposed to the ongoing and unprecedented killing of innocent Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank by the state of Israel. The painful reality unfolding in Gaza is betraying all of our moral convictions of humanity, none of which would be possible without U.S. military and diplomatic support.
For over 3 months, Lansing residents have been demanding our state representatives call for a permanent and lasting ceasefire in Gaza to no avail. If our state representatives refuse to hear us, we must ensure our City Council members do.
Multiple cities across the U.S., including many in Michigan, have passed ceasefire resolutions. On January 8th, 2024 a copy of a community drafted ceasefire resolution was shared with all members of the Lansing City Council. This draft was co-written by numerous Lansing residents, including the Board members of Lansing for Palestine, and informed by an analysis of the ceasefire resolutions that have passed in other US cities as well as the real impact this violence has had on Lansing residents.

By adopting this resolution, Lansing will stand in unity with other cities across our state and the U.S. in calling for an end to the violence and ethnic cleansing being committed by Israel in Gaza.
Please sign and share this petition in support of urging the Lansing City Council to add an item to their agenda to discuss and adopt the community drafted resolution that was shared with them on January 8th, 2024, demanding an immediate and lasting ceasefire in Gaza.
- You can sign publicly or anonymously.
- When you do, please let Lansing City Council members know why they should support a ceasefire resolution by leaving a comment answering the following question:
Why should Lansing City Council pass a ceasefire resolution? - A copy of everyone’s answers, with all personal names redacted, will be shared with City Council members at the next City Council Meeting on January 22, 2024.
Make your voice heard!
Ceasefire now.
