Demand the ACT Government Provide Adequate Playing Fields for Strathnairn School and West Belconnen Community.

Demand the ACT Government Provide Adequate Playing Fields for Strathnairn School and West Belconnen Community.
The issue
As a local parent who has lived in the West Belconnen area for almost a decade, I have been observing the development trends in our area with deep disappointment. The disproportionate prioritisation of profits and development has completely overshadowed the fundamental needs of our growing community. The Strathnairn School construction continues to lag far behind the scheduled timeline. While the Strathnairn School building plans are finally approved, they only include a single small oval, no larger than a traditional residential block. This is completely unacceptable for a school expected to accommodate over 900 children, and for an area projected to house over 30,000 residents within the coming years.
Our community is raising an urgent call to the ACT Government to ensure that both the Strathnairn School and the West Belconnen community have access to playing fields. The land adjacent to our school site, known as the Future Urban Area and currently managed by the Barr Government's Ginninderry Joint Venture Partner (Riverview Group), is the ideal location for these much needed playing fields. If Riverview is allowed to continue in its quest to sell this site for development and profit, Strathnairn and its school will be left without any playing fields.
Our children need room to breathe, play, and grow. An adequate playing field is not just a luxury, but a crucial part of a well-rounded education and vibrant community life. Rather than selling this land for the further development of building profiteers, we urge the ACT Government and the Riverview Group to listen to the voices of the locals who will be the most affected by their decisions. We urge them to prioritise our children's and community's needs.
By signing this petition, you support the call for the ACT Government and its Ginninderry Joint Venture Partner to preserve and utilise the Future Urban Area for much-needed playing fields for our growing community. Please lend your voice to our cause and sign the petition today.
