This petition offers a personal plea from the heart, an appeal for justice, and an insistence upon accountability. This matter is deeply personal for us. It involves a student of Villanova University, Juan Eguiguren.

Juan was present during an episode of sexual assault involving a female classmate. Instead of intervening or attempting to prevent this horrific act, Juan disgracefully participated by photographing the incident and then sleeping in the same room during the assault. Such behavior is not only morally unacceptable, it is in violation of the Villanova Student Handbook rules.

The handbook precisely mentions, "Intentionally inflicting or attempting to inflict, or conspiring to inflict bodily harm upon any person or threatening to do the same" (“Villanova University 2024-25 Student Handbook”, page 18) is a violation of the student code of conduct. It further states that such violations can result in disciplinary measures, up to and including expulsion from the university.

Juan's actions translate to a clear violation of these code of conduct rules, and he must be held responsible for his actions. We, therefore, demand the administration of Villanova University to uphold the principles and rules set forth in the Student Handbook.
