Demand that Churches Speak Out Against Hate

Demand that Churches Speak Out Against Hate
The Issue
The rise of far-right ideologies and their associated dehumanization of marginalized, vulnerable, and multiracial communities is a direct affront to the words and actions of Christ, and are hurting humans, who have been created in his image.
Churches who do not act and speak out against hatred as it grows become irrelevant in the fight against hateful ideologies and power structures, or worse still, complicit in the oppression of basic human rights and dignity. Church history is tainted by examples of inaction against human oppression, leaving a legacy of pain and trauma for the communities and populations churches have been biblically commissioned to love, serve, and protect.
The time is now for followers of Christ to call on each other, their leaders, and the power structures that define church hierarchies to speak and act against these evil, hateful, anti-Christ ideologies. If those who call themselves faithful don't act and speak out now, discrimination, hate, and violence will only increase, with consequences that history shows are all too real and imaginable.
