Although this petition was created on 9th February after I myself received a disappointing email from Thames River Boats and we successfully passed 100 signatures on 20th February, our campaign has seen slow growth since then due to another rival petition being started just a week later on 27th February and since surpassing the 400 mark which has made this one seem irrelevant.

Seeing Thames River Boats services in operation whilst walking in Kingston-upon-Thames by the river has fuelled me to start drawing more attention to this petition, we are currently on 187 signatures but we need to get to 200 ASAP and for existing supporters in London (particularly in the Kingston and Richmond areas) to start emailing local members of parliament to prevent another six-month shutdown of services on the non-tidal Thames.

Uber boats (for commuters), tourist boats to the Tower of London as well as police patrol boats have been safely and successfully patrolling the tidal section of the River Thames (West of Putney) year-round for many decades (for example the night of the millennium, 31st December 1999) and I myself saw  tourist boats operating on the tidal section of the Thames in Central London on New Year's Eve 2025.

Although technically on the "tidal" section of the River Thames west of Putney, Hammerton's Ferry is currently the only regular service which returns to service in early March (which I personally saw in operation during a visit to Ham House in March 2024).

Although this petition is about a cause in the United Kingdom, this petition is open for residents all over the world to sign and we have successfully got signatures from Canada and American Samoa!
