We, the residents, patrons, employees, and neighbors of Brookhaven Borough are aggravated at and concerned by the statements, actions, and lack of accountability demonstrated by Council President Terry Heller stemming from an incident earlier this month where he was subsequently arrested. 

Following the incident, Council President Heller immediately took it upon himself to post about the incident on social media in addition to contacting numerous news media outlets for an interview. As a result, Council President Heller's statements were published in multiple different newspapers and websites.

In addition to the statements made by Council President Heller lacking validity and being contradictory, his statements also severed the relationships of not only the Police Department and Borough Council but the Police Department and the public as well. Council President Heller publicly challenged previous arrests of the Brookhaven Police Department and encouraged those who have been arrested by the Police Department to have their cases looked into. Council President Heller has placed a target on the backs of the men and women of the Brookhaven Police Department and has caused severe and irreversible damage to the reputation of the Police Department. Council President Heller has also mentioned that he intends to sue to same exact Borough that he is Council President of. 

Council President Heller has informed the Chief of Brookhaven Police that he is not permitted at public meetings in an attempt to silence him.

Council President Heller was not present at the latest Council Workshop meeting to answer the public. 

Council President Heller has shown through his actions that he lacks accountability and the skill set to be the President of our Council. Council President Heller has done enough damage to the Borough of Brookhaven and must resign from Council.
