The Issue

As a fierce advocate for animal rights, I am deeply disturbed by the ongoing and gruesome acts of animal cruelty perpetuated by Alejandro Acosta Oliveros. This man has brutally harmed, stolen, and even killed numerous innocent cats, yet he was only held for one night in jail before being allowed back onto our streets. There are countless victims in this unforgivable string of crime, all of them innocent cats who suffered and died at Oliveros's hands.

There are too many instances of animal cruelty that are met with lenient punishment, allowing the perpetrators to return to society swiftly, without the proper rehabilitation or penalties to deter future heinous actions. The instances involving Oliveros are perfect, heart-wrenching examples of a flawed system.

According to the Animal Legal Defense Fund, despite animal cruelty being classified as a felony in all 50 U.S states, it is not uncommon to see perpetrators of severe animal abuse walking free with little to no penalties. We must push for reforms. Each count of animal cruelty should receive a determined jail sentence, mandatory house checks, inclusion on an animal abuse watch list, and permanent prohibition from ever owning an animal.

This is not just about dealing with a single person; it's about changing a system that is repeatedly failing to protect animals from cruelty and send a significant message to anybody who thinks they can treat animals with despicable contempt and face no serious consequences. Lives are at stake, and they do not have a voice in this fight. They need us to stand up and make a difference.

We cannot allow this to continue. Sign this petition to demand stricter penalties for animal cruelty and prevent individuals like Alejandro Acosta Oliveros from causing any more harm to innocent animals. Let's give our voiceless friends the justice they so desperately deserve. *** just found out this man already murdered another cat last night, rescue is trying to remove the cats from that location!
