Demand Stricter Anti-Bullying Policies and Accountability in Niagara Wheatfield Schools

The Issue

I am starting this petition because my daughter has been a victim of severe bullying. It began as cyberbullying, with hurtful posts targeting her online, and soon spread to her school environment. Instead of support, she faced classmates picking on her at school. When I reached out to the bully’s mother to discuss the issue, I was shocked to receive more hostility. Rather than addressing the issue, the mother dismissed my concerns and went as far as to say that my daughter, whom she called “chubby,” would face “worse things” ahead. She hung up on me, showing a complete lack of accountability.

I reported this to the principal and assistant principal at Niagara Wheatfield, but they refused to contact the other parent due to her hostile behavior. Meanwhile, the bullying posts are still up, clearly indicating that neither the bully nor her parents have any intention of stopping the harassment.

This experience shows that the current zero-tolerance policy in our schools is not enough. Bullies often receive nothing more than a verbal warning, which only encourages further aggression and retaliation. We need real action that protects our children and enforces serious consequences for bullying.

I am calling on the Niagara Wheatfield School District to:

 1. Hold Parents Accountable for Repeated Bullying - Following the example of North Tonawanda, implement consequences for parents if their child is found bullying repeatedly. This could include counseling or anger management for the family, with fines or other penalties as necessary.
 2. Enforce Consistent, Serious Consequences for Bullying - Schools should go beyond warnings and take clear action against those who harm others, ensuring a safe environment for all students.
 3. Support Victims of Bullying - Offer resources such as counseling or support groups for students who experience bullying.

Please join me in signing this petition to urge our school district to take a firm stand against bullying. No child should have to dread going to school, and no family should face this kind of neglect and disregard for their child’s well-being.
