Demand Stricter Animal Cruelty Laws and Humane Education in Nepal

Demand Stricter Animal Cruelty Laws and Humane Education in Nepal
The Issue
As someone who has visited Nepal seven times over the last five years, I have been deeply disturbed by the brutal treatment of street dogs that is all too common. This issue is not just about animal welfare, but also about public safety and education. The fear of rabies or simple annoyance should never justify cruelty towards these innocent creatures. https://globalstreetdog.org/resources-%26-information
The government of Nepal needs to take this issue more seriously. We need to urge them to invest in educating both law enforcement officials and the general public about animal cruelty, its implications, and how it can be prevented. Law enforcement must be trained to effectively investigate crimes against animals.
Furthermore, we need research into what motivates such violence against animals and how it can be stopped. It's important to understand that there is a proven link between animal cruelty and human violence; addressing one can help mitigate the other.
We also call for humane education programs to be included as part of the curriculum in all government and private schools across Nepal. This will foster empathy among children from an early age, leading them to become responsible citizens who respect all forms of life. The book Sathi The Street Dog from Kathmandu, Nepal is a bilingual book, about a street dog who gets burned with boiling water which is thrown by a woman who doesn’t like the dog in her neighborhood. The book is based on a true story that happened in 2020. This is one of many books and resources that could be used to teach compassion and kindness to students in Nepal.
This petition isn't just personal; it's a plea for humanity itself. No one should turn a blind eye towards suffering - whether it's happening on our doorstep or halfway around the world in Nepal.
Please sign this petition today if you believe that every creature deserves compassion and kindness - let us work together towards ending animal cruelty once and for all.
